Bengal Tiger
River BasinAbout the Bengal Tiger
The Bengal tiger is an icon of the Asian wilderness. Powerful, stealthy, and deeply respected, they are solitary hunters that rule the dense forests and mangrove swamps they call home.
At our sanctuary, the tigers have access to a vast river basin habitat. You can often see them swimming in deep pools to cool off from the tropical heat or resting in the shade of ancient banyan trees.
Conservation Status: Endangered
Due to poaching and habitat fragmentation, tiger populations have drastically declined. Our park partners with global tiger conservation initiatives, working to protect tiger corridors and prevent illegal wildlife trade.
